Creations of the students in French
Grade 5
Role play is a very effective and interesting way of improving the communication skills in a language. Students of Grade 5 worked in pairs and did a role play in which they enacted a short interview between a journalist and a celebrity. They worked together to prepare the 4-5 questions to be asked and their answers too.
As part of their exposure to French culture, art and architecture, students did 2 projects.
In the first project they researched the festivals celebrated exclusively in France such as La Fête des Rois etc. The other project was a collaboration with History in which they researched on the monuments of France particularly the ones made of iron.
Bastille Day Celebrations:
As part of the Bastille Day celebrations(14th July), organised by Alliance Française du Bengale, French students of Grades 3-5 were invited to participate in an art event called ARTWORK, where they created beautiful pieces inspired by French culture.
Guided by our art teacher, Mr. Sudipta Bardhan, and French teacher, Mrs. Subhasree Sarkhel, the students explored various art techniques, including pointillism. Grade 3 students created stunning Eiffel Tower artworks, while Grade 4 students crafted tricolour cockades, symbolizing French national unity. Grade 5 students designed beautiful lanterns adorned with silhouettes of French monuments.
The students' artwork was showcased on the first-floor corridor boards, creating a festive atmosphere among teachers and students. The teachers of the Language Department skillfully curated the display and brought about a festive look on the first floor corridor.
Additionally, two students from Junior School, Tara Mazumder (Grade 4A) and Avyukt Agarwal (Grade 5B), participated in the 'Read Loud' Competition organized by AF du Bengale on July 12, 2024. They confidently read poems on the theme of Liberté (Freedom) with impressive voice modulation and expressions, earning praise from the judges, Mrs. Clémentine Bertschy Mandal and Mr. Kaushik Chatterjee.
This event offered our students a fantastic opportunity to visit the esteemed Alliance Française du Bengale, a renowned French institute, and immerse themselves in the French language and culture. We are incredibly proud of their enthusiastic participation and outstanding performances, which showcased their talent and dedication
