Grade 5- Cultural Heritage of India- a presentation

India is a land of unparalleled cultural diversity and historical wealth, offering a rich tapestry of traditions, art, architecture, and history that spans millennia. The country's heritage is reflected in its numerous UNESCO World Heritage Sites, each narrating a unique story of India's vibrant past and cultural evolution. To instill an appreciation for this cultural richness among students, they researched several heritage sites across India, created an engaging PowerPoint presentation, and shared insights about these iconic landmarks. The sites focused on included:

  1. Taj Mahal (Agra) - A symbol of love and one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
  2. Hampi (Karnataka) - A marvel of Vijayanagara Empire's architecture and culture.
  3. Ajanta and Ellora Caves (Maharashtra) - Masterpieces of Buddhist, Jain, and Hindu artistry.
  4. Shore Temple (Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu) – A stunning example of Dravidian architecture, this 8th-century temple complex stands by the Bay of Bengal, symbolizing Pallava dynasty's maritime grandeur.
  5. Bishnupur Temples (West Bengal) – Known for their intricate terracotta art, these temples reflect the artistic excellence of the Malla kings during the 17th and 18th centuries.
  6. Sun Temple (Konark, Odisha) – A masterpiece of Kalinga architecture, this 13th-century temple is shaped like a colossal chariot, dedicated to the Sun God.

By integrating this learning activity into their curriculum, it is aimed to build a deeper connection between students and their cultural roots, encouraging them to be custodians of India's glorious past.


 

 

 



  
 
 


Grade 4

 Grade 4 students beautifully recited the poem ‘Khichuri’ from Sukumar Ray’s Abol Tabol, showcasing their pronunciation, expression, and appreciation for Bengali literature. Through their animated performances, they brought the whimsical characters to life..

To commemorate Indian Independence Day, Grade 4 Bengali students explored the lives of poets who wrote inspiring patriotic songs. Each of them selected a poet, learnt about him and shared the information in class. They sang a song written by these poets. Their beautiful presentations, fostered pride, creativity, and a sense of connection to India’s history and ideals of independence.
